Destruction in pieces PDF Print E-mail

I can't help but think Satan doesn't want me to write this blog. I  had just finished writing and then the computer kicked me off the system. So here we go again.

Drea and I stayed up late watching a movie from the 1970's called The China Syndrome. As far as I remember, there was nothing objectionable in it. So if you would like to watch it, go right ahead. The film is about a nuclear power plant and an accident that they subsequently cover up. The movie ultimately moves on to its tragic end. I won't spoil what happens though. As the reporter is finshing up her report and crying into the camera after relaying the tragic events, the studio cuts to a commercial and the film ends with a lighthearted microwave commercial.

The end of this film got me thinking: How many times do we live our lives in the same way? How many times do we see a particulary disturbing story on the news only to change the channel to something more lighthearted so that we can escape what we just watched. So, is changing the channel some sort of coping mechanism or is it an unwillingness to face the fallen world around us. I can't help think that Satn delights in us wanting to feel good all the time and constantly be entertained.

Jesus faced the world he lived in. He went in to the gutters to pull them out of falleness and show them a better way. Let's face it, we're involved in battle for the very souls around us. We can't keep "changing the channel" when we see the schemes of Satan and the destruction they cause. We need to face them with confidence and faith that God is fighting with us to redeem His creation.

Zombies and Fantasy Football PDF Print E-mail

Boy! It's been forever since I have blogged anything. So, I'm not going to dwell on it too much. Eric told me that my blog had gotten a number of hits this month and thought it would be good if I had fresh material for everyone. These blogs might be long or short or silly or serious, maybe both.

You also might be wondering why in the world I chose the title for the blog that I did, so I'll tell you. Some people know this already and some of you will find out for the first time what my number one fear is in all of the world. It's zombies! I'm not even joking. But, I'm not afraid of the zombies that drag their feet and walk. I'm afraid of the zombies that sprint. There have been a several zombie movie that have come out in the last few years that feature this new trait. If you've ever met me, the first thing you might realize is that I'm no sprinter so I would pretty much be toast.

Now, I know there are some of you out there that are having a hard time believeing that this could be true. Well, it is. So there. I think one of the other things I find so terrifying about zombies is their one track minds and determined nature to destroy anything or anyone that is living around them. In the films zombies can't be reasoned with. All they want to do is destroy and tear everything to pieces.

So, I began to wonder. Are there any of us that way? How many Christians do we know or have heard stories about that are filled with anger and do whatever they can to drag other people down. Just like the zombies on film, they can't be reasoned with. It scares me to think that there are Chraitians out there that claim to know Jesus and yet live lives full of hate. Shouldn't the message of Jesus fill us with hope and make us rich and give us joy? I certainly believe so.

To be honest, I was in the same boat as the zombies for years and I never felt satisfied. The reason I broke my cycle of anger and hate is by God smacking me upside the head. I got tired of always being angry and trying to bring others down. It took way too much energy.

Jesus came to earth to reconcile us to God and each other. So, I guess my point is that we should realize this and build bridges and love each other and each others differences and stop trying to destroy everything in sight.

That's all from me. I've got a fantasy football draft.

More next time. Peace.
