How do you view Sundays? Is it a day off or a day of rest? Or is it a catch-up-on-my-chores day? Do you consider it the first day of the week or the last day of the week?
For me Sunday is a refocus and refresh day. By that I mean Sunday is the day that reminds me what life is all about, what things are most important, and what I need to face another week. Sundays anchor the rest of my week. Every Sunday begins with worship, includes some family time, maybe a nap and/or watching some sports, and some fellowship and study time with like minded Christians. I believe this is what the New Testament teaches us to do. On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. (Acts 20:7) God knows that I need a day to refocus and refresh. How about you?
And while we don’t want to revere one day over another, spending a couple of hours in worship on Sunday morning is a great way to honor God. Think of it this way. Time is a gift from God. Our time is precious to us. It seems that we never have enough of it. But one of the best ways to express our love to God is to give Him our first couple of hours at the beginning of each week. When we recognize His other gifts – creation, family, friends, and most of all salvation in Christ Jesus, taking time to worshiping Him is the least we can do.
I invite you to join our church family on Sundays in worship. Our hope is that you would leave here encouraged in your faith and empowered to begin another week.
